Literary & Micro-Loans

FPSM offers a four year literacy program for the residents of Milot. The program offers participants a chance to gain competency in reading as well as develop basic math skills. Participants of the literacy program will have the capacity to read their Bibles and local newspapers on an individual basis, which can facilitate an increase in their overall quality of living.

After receiving a basic literacy assessment from a trained member of the FPSM ministry team, participants are placed in the appropriate literacy class. Each class lasts one year. At the end of the class, participants receive a final evaluation to assess their competence. Upon passing, they are invited to graduate to the next class. Participants who do not demonstrate sufficient competency are allowed to repeat the course the following year.

The vision of the program is to empower Haitians to use their newly acquired literacy and math skills to participate in a micro-loan program sponsored by FPSM. Additionally, graduates of the literacy program have the opportunity to continue their education through other sponsored programs in Haiti.
